A week of Gnomes.....

Hi there everyone...

I have a 2 week period where I don't have anything to do... I can't believe it....
Im sitting here thinking "what am I going to do for these 2 weeks?"

So.....

I made a Gnome pattern - because the one for the magazine is so dang cute, I decided to make a few more...

This one is a Scandanavian gnome.... His name is Bjorn..... He lives in the forest and collects mushrooms - to eat I guess - but judging from his size, I think he knows where McDonalds is too....
Pattern measures 10"(26cm) and is on the intermediate level.

The pattern will be available in my Craftsy Shop....

I'm going to parade the Gnomes this week and then maybe have a bit of a blog rest until the end of Nov. and work on my fabric pattern designs. Here's a preview of two of them....

Monday madness....

Hello everyone...

I'm feeling so much better after my trip to the Dr... I even had a peaceful week end and I actually slept like a baby. I know its a little to get excited over, but I haven't slept for so long, Im giddy with all the good feelings....

Today we're kicking off the week with another of the Folk Art Patterns.
I was trying these out for a folk art theme, but they just keep looking like someone who can't draw at all - although the block is really cute....
Im still working on them tho'..........

Here's the Dancing Rabbit pattern. It measures 12" (31cm) and can be dollied up with some fancy fabrics....

I hope you enjoy!!

Download FREE here..........

Friday Fun Day...

Hello everyone...

I've been away from the blog for a few days - I had to have a procedure done to my arm. It just was not getting any better so the doctor had to do a round of injections into the socket. She kept telling me it would hurt like a son of a b.... but no joke I was still waiting for her to start it all and then she's "okay we're done...." No joke, I didn't even feel it. I think my arm was already so sore, it was nothing compared to it. The good news is that I feel about 100% better already. Still stiff but so much less in the pain department. Thank Heavens!!

I've had the idea to make a few "Folk Art Patterns" for a while, so Im trying a few out...

This is the Folk Art Squirrel....

It can't look too realistic... and as if someone drew it quickly... you get the idea...

This pattern measures 12" (31cm) and is on the easy intermediate level.

You can download him for FREE right HERE....

Now I need to finish up the 12 Days of Christmas patterns which are shaping up to be super cute! and the January Magazine patterns which will need to go to the testers asap....

November Block of the Month

Hello to everyone....

Today we have our Block of the Month -
Wild Babies...

It's already November and we're almost finished with this theme.... and there are so many to choose from still....

Today we have a little Elephant calf....

they're so dang cute! We've seen them in the National Game Park so many times but we never get close because we're a little scared of them....
They're a lot bigger than us and they hang around in gangs.....

aaah, look at this cutie playing with the birds...
makes me wish I could pack him in the boot and bring him home with me....

Here we have our sewn up block...
This one was tested by
Joan Wintersgill of Texas.

Thanks Joan, its adorable! I absolutely love it!

Surprisingly I've already designed the December block too and Joan has already sewn it up for me...
Now I can concentrate on finishing up a load of other blocks....

Our Free for November Elephant block is available in my Craftsy Shop
I hope you enjoy sewing it too...

Need to chat?

Hello there...
Its already Friday and I feel as if I haven't done anything....aaaarrrrgggh!!!

Last weekend the ceiling in my sewing room was starting to make a wierd bulge so when hubby wanted to hammer it back in place, it fell down.................... yep, it fell down onto all my desk, my sewing area, my computer .........everything.

Didn't jump up and down - even tho' I wanted to............ yay me!

So..............I've been cleaning up ever since and now we sit with a huge hole in the ceiling and can see into the rafters and the bottom side of the roof.  We're still waiting for the insurance guys to come and take a look. Not even to fix yet, just to take an assessment.....

Anyway, I was looking at photos of our pets and still miss Mr. Frank. He really was such a sweetheart. I made a pattern of him - just because.....

The pattern measures 12" (31cm) and is on the Intermediate level.

He looks as if he's saying " Have a coffee.... what's on your mind?"

I've added it to my Craftsy shop.......

Paper Piecing Magazine

Hi there....

I wanted to talk about a few of the patterns we finished up for the Issue #15 Paper Piecing Magazine.

The Festive Season issue always has some cute Christmas patterns.

This is the Joy, Love & Peace pattern. It measures 14x28" (36x74cm) so it makes a lovely long wall hanging or table runner/decoration.

Here are some that were tested for me to add to the magazine.
This first one is by Roberta Smith and next to it is by Colleen Jolly.
They're both so beautiful! Thanks so much for all your help.

This is the Snowflake design in Issue #15
The pattern measures 14" (36cm)

Here we have the tested blocks by Michelle Carroll and Charlotte Behrens.
So cute! Thanks so very much ladies. I love them!!

You can find Issue #15 of Paper Piecing 1/4" Digital Magazine right here........ it has its own site.....

Subscriptions are $32 for 4 issues (quarterly) OR for Single Issues $8 in my Craftsy Shop.
All back issues are in my Craftsy Shop too...

Day #5 - Halloween Fashion Week Wrap Up....

Its Day #5 here in Tshwane with loads of clouds in the sky. So I'm guessing 'no laundry then...'

This week we've seen amazing as well as ridiculous fashion.......... some that may even haunt us for a while...

Yep, you've guessed it - today is all about shoes....

We all love our shoes!
From the glitter heels to the flat flip flops we use when no-one else is around.

This gives "Vis Plakkies" (fish flip flops) a whole new meaning...lololol...

So now, its time to step up and own those ugly shoes....

Let the runway show begin -
cue scary halloween music.....

I know my son wears his shoes until they somewhat resemble this, but jeepers, this is giving Crocs a run for their money....

and for those who are a tad paranoid....
no-one will know if you're coming or going in these babies....

Oh my, don't these look comfy...

Look they seem to have a tentacle that will stop you from falling over backwards...thanks, I think... I wonder if they come with a mandatory leg cast? or a long stick to help you to walk...

Dang! flames too.... for when you're late and want to walk fast.... or how about these.... you wanted to wear heels but you also wanted to go barefoot... best of both worlds. Looks like she was angry at her feet - but only the back part and now they're in shoe jail....

WTH!!

For trainee ballerinas maybe....

who has time for this? I imagine this world must be really flat.... can you think how you would climb stairs with these...

Im starting to think that the life on the runway must be really bizarre...

Let's get back to those cute Halloween shoes....
Oh look! Cute shoes that look like her stockings... got to love those!
and a pair of strap on halloween shoes... that's really cute too...

Thanks so much for being part of the Halloween Fashion Week -
I hope you've had a little break from the ordinary and maybe even a little chuckle...

Its time for the designer to walk the runway
Thanks for your support!!

Today's pattern is another 12" (31cm) pattern on the intermediate level.

This is an update of our week....

I'll be uploading all the Halloween patterns and then some more to my  Craftsy Shop

Someone call that girl with those dusters on her feet.......
